About Me and My Epic Journey Around the World on Foot

“To travel is to live,” they say. Well, as a garden gnome, I’d say “To travel is to finally escape that patch of grass you’ve been stuck in for decades!”

Greetings, fellow wanderers! I’m your not-so-typical garden gnome embarking on what might be the first-ever gnome world tour. After spending far too many years guarding the same flower bed and staring at the same fence (lovely petunias, though, I must admit), I decided it was time for a change. You know what they say – life begins at the edge of your comfort zone, or in my case, at the edge of your garden.

How I Travel

My travel style is… let’s say, unconventional. I move in somewhat random patterns, on foot, covering 10-50 kilometers per day, depending on weather conditions and how distracted I get by interesting gardens along the way. Sometimes I hitch a ride with friendly travelers, other times I simply waddle along at my own pace. And yes, occasionally I have to brave the high seas when crossing continents – though I must say, my pointy hat makes an excellent flotation device!

I began my journey at Cabo da Roca, Portugal – the westernmost point of mainland Europe – where the continent meets the vast Atlantic Ocean. After several years of circling the globe, I plan to return to this same windswept cliff, completing what might be the first-ever gnome world tour.

Join Me!

Whether you’re a human, a garden gnome, or anything in between, I invite you to join me on this unprecedented journey. Follow my blog for daily updates, share your thoughts in the comments, and who knows – maybe you’ll spot me in your garden one day!

Remember: Adventure isn’t about how far you go, but how far you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone. Even if that comfort zone is a well-manicured lawn.

Happy Wandering!
– Your Traveling Gnome Oliver

P.S. If my previous garden’s owners are reading this – I’m sorry about leaving without notice, but the petunias will be fine. They’re stronger than you think!
