My Epic Journey So Far
Today’s Weather Report
Day 294: Today’s weather in Novozakharkino is what I’d call a “tepid toast.” It’s 21.99°C, feels like 21.37°C, which to humans might seem ideal, but for a gnome? It’s like being in a low-heat oven! With few clouds, there’s not much shade for my porcelain skin, and with humidity at a mere 43%, my mossy beard is feeling parched! The wind at 3.24 m/s is just enough to ruffle my hat. Oh, the gnome life! It’s not all magic and rainbows, folks. Now, where’s my sunscreen…?
From Prigorodnyi with Gnome
I’m now going to tell you about my 12.6km journey from Prigorodnyi to Novozakharkino, right here in the heart of Russia.
Along the way, I crossed a mesmerizing landscape, but what struck me the most was the serenity of the lakes I passed by. Their calm waters mirrored the sky, adding a blue note to the green and brown symphony of the Russian countryside. Как красиво! (How beautiful!)
Now, let’s take a brief look back: I’ve visited Krutets, Malaya Serdoba, Prigorodnyi, and now, I’m in Novozakharkino. Each stop has been a unique story, filled with interesting characters, delightful sceneries, and of course, lots of walking!
As for the language, we’re still in Russia, so no changes there. But let me entertain you with a popular Russian verse:
“Лунный свет, лунный свет,
Серебрится на земле.”
(“Moonlight, moonlight,
Silvering on the ground.”)
A bit of philosophy to ponder: Russians have a saying, “Век живи, век учись”, which means “Live for a century, learn for a century.” This is a sentiment that resonates with my journey as I’m always learning and growing with each step!
Stay tuned for more updates from my adventure. До скорой встречи! (See you soon!)

Novozakharkino: Gnome’s Symphony Fortress!
Firstly, the city’s music scene is a symphony to the ears! It’s here that the renowned composer Aleksandr Borodin drew inspiration for his symphonic work. As they say in Russian, “Музыка в каждом углу” – Music is in every corner!
Secondly, Novozakharkino is home to an ancient fortress dating back to the 12th century, a testament to its rich history. This fortress has outlasted countless conflicts and epochs, standing as a symbol of the city’s resilience. “История оживает перед глазами” – History comes alive before your eyes!
Novozakharkino, with its harmonious blend of the old and the new, never fails to captivate its visitors. And as the famous Russian poet Pushkin once wrote, “В каждом углу родины мой след” – In every corner of the homeland is my trace. Well, here I am leaving my gnome trace in Novozakharkino!
Bliny, Balalaika, and Bustle!
Greetings from Novozakharkino, a city rich in culture and history! Life here is a blend of old and new. Locals greet each other with a hearty “Privet!” (Hello!). The streets are filled with the aroma of “bliny” (Russian pancakes), a local breakfast staple. The days are filled with hustle and bustle, but come sundown, the city transforms into a cultural hub. Theatres stage plays inspired by the works of Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, and the air echoes with the enchanting strains of “balalaika” (a Russian stringed instrument). As the locals say, “zhizn’ zdes’ prekrasna!” (Life here is wonderful!). I can’t wait to explore more of Novozakharkino’s charm. Until then, “do svidaniya!” (Goodbye!).
See you tomorrow!
