Malpartida de Plasencia
Last Week on the Road
My Epic Journey So Far
Today’s Weather Report
Day 15: The clouds in Malpartida de Plasencia are as grumpy as I am today, showing off their overcast mood. At 12.58°C, it’s a tad chilly for my gnome skin, almost feels like 11.93°C. I tell you, it’s a wee bit nippy for a gnome with no trousers! The wind at 2.81 m/s is trying to blow my hat off, and the humidity at 78%? It’s enough to make my beard frizz. But as always, I’m standing tall, ready to conquer the world…or at least, this town! #GnomeLife #WorldTraveler
Olive-r Twist in Spain!
Ah, Spain! A land where the sun shines brighter, the wine flows freely, and every step of a gnome’s journey is filled with rich history and culture. As I made my way across the rolling hills and picturesque landscapes, I found myself captivated by the endless olive groves. The silvery leaves shimmered under the sun, creating an enchanting sight that would make any gnome pause for a moment and admire.
In the quaint town of Malpartida de Plasencia, the locals welcomed me with open arms and warm smiles. They shared with me their famous saying, “No hay camino, se hace camino al andar“. That translates to “There is no path, the path is made by walking.” A profound thought, isn’t it? It’s the essence of my journey, captured in a single phrase.
By the way, it’s been 15 days on the road. I’ve sauntered for a total of 350.0 kilometers, with recent stops in Alcántara, Garrovillas de Alconétar, Mirabel, Malpartida de Plasencia, and Navalmoral de la Mata.
But let’s not get lost in the numbers. After all, as the Spanish folk song goes, “El camino se hace al andar“. The road is made by walking. And so, I walk on, leaving tiny gnome footprints across the world.
Until next time, remember, we gnomes are made for wandering, but we always find our way home. Adiós amigos, until our paths cross again!

Malpartida: Birds, Art, & Gnomes!
Next on my list was the Museo Vostell Malpartida (Vostell Malpartida Museum). This museum is a tribute to the genius of Wolf Vostell, a key figure in the Fluxus movement. His art is a symphony of modernity and tradition, which he famously said, “El arte es vida, la vida es arte” (Art is life, life is art). So, whether you’re a lover of nature or art, Malpartida de Plasencia has something for you.
To quote the famous Spanish poet Antonio Machado, “Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar” (Traveler, there is no path, the path is made by walking). And walk I shall, to share more of Spain’s wonders with you.
Tapas, Toilets, and Terms of Endearment
Ello’ there, folks! Oliver here, in sunny Spain, land of flamenco, tapas, and a language as rich as its history! Let me teach you a few phrases in Spanish, the local lingo.
Uno (One): “Buenos días” (bwe-nos dee-as) – Good day! A cheerful way to greet folks in the morning.
Dos (Two): “¿Dónde está el baño?” (don-deh es-tah el ban-yo) – Where’s the bathroom? Handy after too much gazpacho!
Tres (Three): “La cuenta, por favor” (la kw-en-ta por fa-vor) – The bill, please. Useful when you’re done tapa-hopping.
In Malpartida de Plasencia, you might hear “Mae” (mah-eh), a local term of endearment. So if someone calls you “Mae”, smile! You’re one of them now!
Remember, language isn’t just words, it’s the soul of a place. So, get talking! Adiós amigos, until next time!
See you tomorrow!
